Communication between Housekeeping and Front Office


WRITTEN COMMUNICATION

1) Occupancy Report - Prepared by night audit; List occupied rooms that night and expected to check out next day (due out); Executive housekeeper get the list every morning and schedules room for cleaning.

2) Housekeeping Status Report - Prepared by housekeeping department at end of the shift; Indicate current housekeeping status (room needed to be clean)

3) Room Status Discrepancy - A situation where housekeeping department's description of rooms differs from front desk's description


MECHANICAL COMMUNICATION

1) Room Rack - Used by front desk to track status of all rooms; A room rack slip is filled during guest's registration and placed in the room rack slot; Indicates occupied room; Removed once guest checks out and room status change to "on-change"


COMPUTERIZED COMMUNICATION

1) Computerized room status system - A computer terminal which ensure instant access to room status information; Front desk enter "departure" and alert housekeeping to clean the room when guest check out; Housekeeping enter "clean and inspected" and inform front desk the room is available for sale

2) Guestroom telephone system - Supervisors enter designated code to change room status in the computer system to inform front desk room is available for sale; Saves time and energy
